چکیده
Titanium dioxide (TiO2) (nano)particles are produced in large quantities and their potential impacts on ecosystems warrants investigations into fate after disposal. TiO2 particles released wastewater retained by treatment plants accumulate digested sludge, which is increasingly incinerated industrialized countries. Therefore, we investigated the changes of Ti-speciation during incineration as-received sludge spiked with anatase (d=20–50 nm) or rutile (d=200–400 using X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) transmission electron microscopy (TEM). In were dominant Ti bearing minerals both remained unaffected anaerobic treatment. During incineration, reacts hematite to members hematite-ilmenite solid solution series (Hem-Ilm). Up 80% as transformed Hem-Ilm, a distorted 6-fold coordinated (Ti(IV)sulfate) incineration. 30% 60% Hem-Ilm Ti(IV)sulfate represented phases fly bottom ash, respectively. Fe spatially correlated ash derived from whereas only thin layer reacted Fe, line XAS data. This study highlights transient nature nano-Ti species sewage

NANOMATERIALS: Transformation of Silver Nanoparticles in Sewage Sludge
Invasive plants are known for disrupting the ecologic balance in plant and animal communities. They also may play a role in the spread of human diseases, according to a study of ehrlichiosis and its relationship to the noxious weed Amur honeysuckle (Lonicera maackii ). Ehrlichiosis is an emerging disease that occurs in people and other animals. In people, one of the most prevalent culprits is t...
متن کاملEvaluation of Sewage Sludge for Incineration (Case study: Arak Wastewater Treatment Plant)
Sewage sludge treatment has become a primary subject in wastewater treatment and energy production. This paper aims to study the feasibility of power generation by incineration from sewage sludge enriched with impurities like heavy metals. For this purpose, we chose Arak wastewater treatment plant (AWWTP) and used calorific bomb test for examination. The experimental results showed that the hea...
متن کاملTransformation of four silver/silver chloride nanoparticles during anaerobic treatment of wastewater and post-processing of sewage sludge.
The increasing use of silver (Ag) nanoparticles [containing either elemental Ag (Ag-NPs) or AgCl (AgCl-NPs)] in commercial products such as textiles will most likely result in these materials reaching wastewater treatment plants. Previous studies indicate that a conversion of Ag-NPs to Ag2S is to be expected during wastewater transport/treatment. However, the influence of surface functionality,...
متن کاملComparison of phosphorus recovery from incineration and gasification sewage sludge ash.
Incineration of sewage sludge is a common practice in many western countries. Gasification is an attractive option because of its high energy efficiency and flexibility in the usage of the produced gas. However, they both unavoidably produce sewage sludge ashes, a material that is rich in phosphorus, but which is commonly landfilled or used in construction materials. With current uncertainty in...
متن کاملComparative assessment of municipal sewage sludge incineration, gasification and pyrolysis for a sustainable sludge-to-energy management in Greece.
For a sustainable municipal sewage sludge management, not only the available technology, but also other parameters, such as policy regulations and socio-economic issues should be taken in account. In this study, the current status of both European and Greek Legislation on waste management, with a special insight in municipal sewage sludge, is presented. A SWOT analysis was further developed for...
